Common questions
WordPress is fine for some use cases. It is bad at speed, security and not breaking when you update something. Most “WordPress sites” we get asked to fix have 30+ plugins, three months of skipped security updates, a database full of orphaned tables and a theme nobody has maintained since 2019. Hand-written PHP avoids all of that. The cost is that you cannot pick a $40 theme off ThemeForest — but you also cannot get hacked through a contact-form plugin nobody has patched since 2021.
For most clients the honest answer is: you can, but you probably should not want to. The “edit it yourself” promise is what gets businesses into the WordPress mess in the first place. The care-plan edit hours exist so you do not have to. That said, if you want a small content-management surface for specific things (team bios, blog posts, service descriptions), we can absolutely build that — just tell us at kickoff so it is scoped in.
Yes. At any point you can ask for a complete copy of the codebase and we hand it over. If you move hosts, we help with the migration. If you hire another developer to take over, we do a clean handoff. The “you own it” promise is not marketing — it is a contractual default.
Care: 3–4 weeks once we have your content. Care + Edits: 4–6 weeks including discovery. Care + Growth: 6–10 weeks depending on the depth of conversion work. The biggest variable is always how quickly you can get us copy, photos and feedback — not how fast we can build.
You can move up at any time. The build foundation is the same across tiers, so upgrading the monthly care plan is straightforward — we just expand the scope of what is covered each month.
Maybe, maybe not. If the existing site is fundamentally sound but needs care and steady updates, we can sometimes take it on a care plan without a full rebuild. If it is the typical WordPress-with-30-plugins situation, a rebuild usually costs less and works better than trying to fix what is there. We will tell you honestly which one applies after a 20-minute look.
